Carved Limestone Fountain Bowl with a Pinecone Finial
A close study of the carving, photographed against black so nothing competes with it. The shallow bowl is cut to a quatrefoil plan with a moulded lip and a pinecone finial rising at the centre, and the baluster stem beneath is worked in acanthus leaves that unfurl into scrolled volutes above a square plinth. The stone is honeycombed with fossil voids that catch the light along every carved edge. Ancient Surfaces reclaimed and conserved this limestone fountain bowl for courtyards, garden rooms and pool pavilions.
