Antique Limestone Fountain with a Carved Chalice Basin

A rare arrangement. The octagonal ground basin has a heavy rounded coping and a deeply eroded surface, and from its centre an octagonal column lifts a second raised basin cut like a chalice and carved with foliate medallions on each face. Iron spouts and the original tie rods are still in place. The erosion across the lower stone is the honest record of centuries of standing water.
